This interview is an excerpt from Kevin Gianni’s Renegade Roundtable, which can be found at http://www.RenegadeRoundtable.com. In this excerpt, Phillip McClusky shares on being 400 lbs. and what saved him from gastric bypass surgery.
Renegade Water Secrets with Phillip McClusky, who lost 200 lbs. and found health and happiness in a raw food lifestyle. He is the host of www.lovingraw.com.Phillip: Thank you very much Kevin. I appreciate the opportunity to be on the phone with you and for all of your listeners as well. I’m really excited for tonight’s show.Kevin: Awesome. Well, let’s start very simply. Why don’t you just start by talking a little bit about what you went through, in your past, before you started to realize that maybe you needed to change.Phillip: Well, I had been overweight my entire life, so like you had mentioned I grew up being the “cute chubby kid” which everybody liked to pinch my cheeks and such. And then somewhere along elementary school I started to get to be fairly heavy and then junior high school I think it worked into being rather obese. And then high school and after high school I became morbidly obese until finally I reached a point of 400 pounds.
So many people ask me, “How do you get that big?” And the funny thing was is my mom never really had salt or sugar in the house growing up and we didn’t have that much junk food to speak of. But a lot of it tended to be really heavy amounts of food, just large, large portions, eating two and three times the amount that everybody else at the table had, going back for seconds and thirds and just really trying to fill some sort of emotional void that was there instead of dealing with it in other ways. It resulted in emotional eating. So that’s kind of the start of this and really where it brought me up to was an amazing place. It was
very difficult growing up that way.
Many times I didn’t even know there was an option. There were times I just resigned to the fact of thinking that I was never going to be in shape and just actually be happy, and just tried to be happy some how, some way, in shape, form, with being overweight. And I actually tried to do that for a couple of months until I really got to the place where I was like, “That’s just such a terrible attitude. There’s got to be some way…” And I had given up hope. I was researching and just like you mentioned I had tried literally every type of diet known to man. You can mention it and I’ve tried it, I’m sure. Thirty different diets over the course of the time, even some of the other types of things like hypnotism and guided imagery and water fasting and even tried vegetarian and vegan. And for some reason those things just didn’t click in for me, until later on I found raw foods. That discovery really was to be the catalyst to change the rest of my life.Kevin: So you said that you were about to consider, or you maybe even met with the doctor about bypass surgery. Is that correct?Phillip: Yeah, what happened is I didn’t have any…basically after all these different diets I didn’t have any other choice, any other option, I felt, and so I kind of just did what the media was really pushing at the time. And they were really pushing gastric bypass surgery being the only sort of answer for somebody with this type of situation. So literally living and going through all these diets and just feeling hopeless, I thought that that was the only thing for me.
So I went to the hospital and was welcomed in. The surgery was widely accepted and went through literally a month of tests to satisfy my insurance company. Probably eight or nine different tests, sleep apnea, staying in the hospital overnight, heart tests, breathing tests, everything you can think of, to sort of get this approval from my insurance company. And they finally approved it and they said, “Okay, you can have this. We’ll pay for it. You can do it anytime you want.”
I had been going to some of the support groups and had seen people that had already gotten the surgery and found that some people were having complications and there was a chance that people were dying on the table and were dying later on from complications. Even people that were totally healthy, per say, and stuck on the plan very well were still having some complications. And then I had heard about some people who had literally had the surgery and lost 150-200 pounds and then somehow stretched their stomach and gained it all back, which I didn’t even know was possible. Then I actually met a friend’s mother who had lost all the weight, gained it back, somehow convinced another doctor to do the surgery a second time, which I hadn’t even heard of, lost all the weight and gained it back again. So I kind of felt like this wasn’t the answer, but it was the only thing.
As I was about to actually have it done at the very last moment just a still voice inside me said, “Don’t do it.” And I knew at that moment that there had to be some other option. So that’s when I really decided to bypass gastric bypass surgery.Kevin: Wow. So take me through the thought process here. You tried all these other things, literally a Rolodex of different things that you’ve done. They haven’t worked. So you’re faced with bypass surgery, not bypass surgery, oh my gosh…You’re faced with this surgery. How did you make a decision to do what you did? And did you know it was going to work?Phillip: You know, I didn’t know raw was going to work per say, but I had to try something. The last thing I was doing was reading some books about water fasting and somebody in the book had mentioned raw foods. I did a seven-day water fast. It was a very nice experience. It was quite successful. But I heard this word “raw food” and I didn’t know what that meant. So I googled it online and just did a little bit of research and ran across this book called “Raw Family” by the Boutenkos. Each one of the four people in the family had a different disease and they all overcame them with raw food. For some reason when I read this, I mean I literally read the book in an hour, and something just resonated in me. I just felt that somehow, some way, this was the ticket for me. This was what was really going to work this time.
I had no reservations. I literally switched overnight from eating heavy amounts of fast food, basically fast food almost every meal, probably anywhere from two to three times the amount of food the average person eats, switched overnight to 100 percent raw foods. I kind of just knew that it would work and I just made the switch, made a commitment. But more than anything I really made a switch in my mindset, I think, which was the thing that really helped me to make this switch. Because it really wasn’t so much of a struggle this time around, as so many of the other diets were, it was literally like my mind was like, “Okay, you don’t eat this type of food anymore, now you eat this.” And so the process and making the choice was quite simple and I really felt deep down inside that this was going to be the answer for me. Basically I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and I had reached my low.
So many people don’t make change in their life until they’re actually standing in front of their doctor and their doctor says, “Okay, you’re dying. You have a year to live. You have to make a choice about your health.” Then all of a sudden everybody gets excited and wants to make a change in their life. But for me the day that I stepped on the scale and the needle went to 400, that was kind of like my death sentence. So I knew I had to find something and nothing really felt right, it was just what I was doing with the time.
But when I found out and heard and started reading about this raw food thing it just made sense. There was nobody out to make money off of it. There wasn’t any packaged foods I had to make or any cards that I had to move from slot to slot, or any programs or any monthly fees that I had to pay. There was not big mastermind behind this. It was just fruits and vegetables. You could even grow it in your backyard. It seemed simple and it just felt right. And that’s when I went for it Kevin.

Osteoporosis is a very serious disease of your bones that can lead to breakdown of the bone density, causing it to be weak enough that it is susceptible to breakage. People sometimes do not believe osteoporosis to be serious, since it is a gradual disease with a gradual onset of symptoms. In other words, nobody that gets osteoporosis is metaphorically hit over the head with a crux of issues all at once. Unlike cancer or another serious illness, there is no immediate life-threatening problem when one develops osteoporosis. However, being diagnosed with osteoporosis can truly remove the quality of a person’s life. Luckily, there are precautions that can be taken to prevent the development of this disease which generally affects the elderly. It is very important to take measures early in life so as to avoid this progressive disease later on.

Exercise is a great way to fight osteoporosis early in life. Believe it or not, exercise is critical for the prevention of weak bones and, besides its other positives, this is just another reason why exercise should be a daily part of your routine. Any weight-bearing exercise is particularly good for osteoporosis, such as weight training, running, or other high-impact sports and activities. While you have probably heard that running is hard on the knees or hips, in reality your bones are getting stronger the longer one continues this type of activity. The striking and impact of your foot on the pavement or hard ground actually works to harden the bones to breakage over time.

Weight training is another very popular exercise that is good in preventing osteoporosis. Weight training has become increasingly more popular over the years, and gym memberships have risen drastically as men, women and children alike can now be found lifting weights for good health. Weight training also helps to increase bone density, as well as improve your posture, improve your mood, and many report an improvement in self-confidence.

Other than exercise, you can help prevent osteoporosis with certain supplements. Some of the most common supplements for the prevention of osteoporosis are calcium and vitamin D. Most people are aware that calcium is important for strong bones and teeth. They hear it on commercials and their parents tell them from the time they are little to drink their milk. However, most people probably do not take it as seriously as they should. It really is a good idea to supplement with calcium every day to help prevent osteoporosis down the road. Calcium supports bone density and bone healing.

While it is true that milk and other dairy products are a good source of calcium, you may not be getting all the calcium you need from these sources. If you are a vegetarian or vegan especially, who does not consume any dairy products, it is especially important for you to take a calcium supplement. Broccoli and fortified orange juice contain good amounts of calcium, but you probably cannot stomach enough broccoli to make it worthwhile.

Vitamin D occurs naturally with sunshine, so getting your exercise outdoors can help provide you with the vitamin D you need. Remember to wear your sunscreen, of course. While outside activity in the sun can be a wonderful and fun source of Vitamin D, you will likely not get enough of it without supplementation. Some areas of the country are sunnier than others, and then there are the winter months to consider when people tend to stay indoors more often. With the amount of Vitamin D supplements available, it can easily be incorporated into your daily routine.

In keeping up with your protein consumption, and also increasing your Vitamin C and Vitamin K intake, you can also help keep your bones stronger and prevent osteoporosis. Again, you can do this by supplementing if you are uncertain as to whether your diet provides sufficient amounts of these important vitamins.

A supplement called glucosamine chondroitin, which is actually two supplements generally sold in a compound as one, is very helpful with joint pain associated with age and increased activity level. While not directly helpful for the prevention of osteoporosis, it is used to treat osteoarthritis. You may want to consider adding this supplement to help prevent the aches and pains that sometimes occur in your bones as you age and try to maintain the same level of activity and fitness.

Supplementing with these vitamins, minerals, and aminos can be very beneficial when used in combination with a healthy lifestyle and diet. Make sure to keep your alcohol consumption in moderation for healthy bones as well as cut out any smoking habit you may have, since smoking and heavy drinking both increase the risk of osteoporosis. Follow these simple rules and you will increase your chances of having strong, healthy bones for life.

WHAT IS THE MEDIFAST PROGRAM?

Medifast is physician supervised program available with unlimited counseling and regular physical exams.

This program can work for anyone if you need to loose 10 to 100+ pounds! It is packed with vitamins, minerals and has a main ingredient of the ’super-health-food’ soy.

I feel that it is especially helpful for those that have developed a disorder with food or are obese.

PERMANENT WEIGHT LOSS?

You always hear that MEDIFAST will inevitably cause you to gain your weight back. This is true for ANY weight loss program. Let’s stick to reality here. If we do not remain steadfast and committed in taking care of our bodies then yes of course the weight will
come back. Only with exercise, education about nutrition and a love of life can we stay at a healthy weight. Medifast does work for those who decide to work with it.

A DAY IN THE LIFE..

Let me give you and example about a regular day on the program Meals should be 3-4 hours apart.

8:00am – I have awakened from sleep, revived and ready for a new day. I am ready for breakfast. Oatmeal sound great…especially Apple and Cinnamon. The oatmeal is best mixed with 3/4 cup of water
(if you like it thick use 1/2) and needs no sprucing up but I add a packet of Splenda and a little vanilla extract for that ‘gooey’ texture I like!

12:00 – I have a bowl of vegan chili with MediFast multigrain crackers (mixed with 1 cup water and heated for 2 minutes let set hot!!!) with bits of fresh onion and celery mixed in not to mention
a dash of garlic powder and paprika. The chili really does not need these extras but it is okay to add them if it is desired.

3:00 – I grab a delicious peanut butter protein bar gives me a boost and makes me feel like I’m cheating!

6:00 – I decide to have a small ‘meal’ for dinner (you can eat the MediFast products only or have 1 meal a day within guidelines). I have grilled turkey breast with a couple of cups of lettuce, a few
onions, fat-free honey Dijon dressing, and another packet of crackers.

9:00 – I have my last meal for the day. A favorite treat of mine. Canfield’s Chocolate Fudge soda mixed with a packet of Mocha Chocolate MediFast, a packet of Splenda, and a dash of chocolate extract (this was frozen made earlier in the day). It tastes so good…like chocolate ice milk! Yum.

THE RUN-DOWN

Basically to wrap things up in summary…
You can have 5 supplements a day and one meal. You
can also have two fast soups, that do not count as a supplement (beef, chicken, tomato) and up to 2 packets of crackers. The shakes (two different chocolates, vanilla, strawberry and orange),
oatmeal, chili, creamy soups and candy bars (peanut butter, chocolate devine, mint chocolate, berry, lemon and oatmeal) are counted as supplements. You can add small amounts of veggies,
extracts and spices to any of the soups (Chicken Noodle, Creamy Tomato, Chicken and Broccoli) and chili. You can also have any non-caloric drink as much as you want but need to get in at least 64 oz. of water a day. Coffee (milk can be used!) is allowed but limited to three cups a day . For dinners, 3-4 oz. of lean meats
(chicken, turkey, beef, pork, fish, shrimp) are allowed with or in lettuce greens (a couple of stuffed cups of lettuce allowed) with a few veggies in the salad and 2 tablespoons of low-fat or fat-free dressing. A cup or two of other cooked or raw veggies (green beans, broccoli, etc.) can substitute a salad.

Once you get into the swing of things, find out which foods you like best, and develop a schedule…things go pretty smoothly. The first three days of adjustment may have minor side-effects such as headaches, fatigue, and grumpiness but those first three days are worth any mild discomfort considering how helpful and how far you can go in healing the body and mind of obesity with this program.

By following similar steps like the above any person can effectivly lose weight with Medifast.

You don’t need to be a vegetarian or vegan to reap the benefits of eating healthy. Even the most devoted vegan must watch what they eat; sugars and fatty foods are out there everywhere and everyone can fall victim to them. Knowing what to eat and how much to eat is the key. Avoiding some foods all together will help, just as adding a little of this and that every once in a while will aid you as well.
Soy foods have always been associated with health foods. There was the tofu craze of the early eighties and then, in the nineties, people found themselves buying soy yogurt and soy ice cream. Unfortunately, the media frenzy has died down but the benefits associated with eating these foods have not.
How Soy Works to Help Promote Weight Loss
Soy foods are great for weight loss; they contain protein that is easily digestible, unlike animal proteins that can be stored in the body for days. Soy protein has also been linked to helping reduce the risk of obesity in direct correlation with Type-2 diabetes. Studies show that replacing animal protein with soy protein can decrease short-term appetite and calorie intake.
For those of you who watch your weight and study all the fad diets, you undoubtedly know that fiber plays an incredible role in weight loss. Soluble fiber, which can be broken down in the body, helps in lowering cholesterol levels and fighting disease.
Insoluble fiber is great for bulk or, as dieters like to say, roughage. This type of fiber helps you stay full, go to the bathroom regularly, and keep your body’s systems running efficiently. Fiber can also help eliminate other fats that you eat from your body. Because soy fiber helps the body and the digestive system, the fat doesn’t stay in the body as long, therefore less is absorbed into the blood stream.
The Assistance of Isoflavones
Soy hormones or isoflavones have been linked to reducing breast cancer risks as well as eliminating certain menopausal symptoms like hot flashes. Further studies have also linked these isoflavones to weight loss. One study at the University of Illinois proved just this. Research concluded that the hormones aided in boosting the metabolism and degrading lipids. It seems the inherent medical properties of the soy isoflavones help with weight loss, independent of calorie content.
Diabetic studies have linked soy foods to regulating sugar levels and minimizing insulin fluctuations, meaning fewer sugar cravings. This is due, in part, to soy products being a low-glycemic index food. Many people have added the recommended 25 grams of soy protein to their diets for this reason alone.
However, soy foods have a tremendous amount of other healthy qualities as well. For instance, the FDA says eating soy foods can lower your cholesterol and help fight disease. The American Heart Association has also gotten on the soy bandwagon. It’s a healthy food that aids the body in fighting many diseases, and an added benefit is losing weight.

Wake up and Roar Part IIBy Siridatta www.minisizeme.co.ukHOW?In last month’s article, we discussed the recent ground breaking information that is coming through regarding the Raw Food Lifestyle currently sweeping through the UK ‘s Yoga and Nutrition sub cultures. We summed up the medicinal and spiritual advancements to be achieved through the suggested programme and on paper it looked good. From my personal experience, it’s the way forward! I had no idea that after years of Yoga practise, you could advance yet again onto another level of vibrant good health. Well, at this moment in time, here it is:If you are anything like me, you will want to get started yesterday. But to really succeed and stay committed to the diet there are crucial strategies that must be in place. Now that we know we should be eating a diet rich in raw plant foods; what do we do? How do we do it? How do we make the transition? How do we stay balanced? Brilliant Questions!David Wolfe, author of The Sunfood Diet Success System and pioneer of www.rawfood.com, has discovered invaluable information; He calls this breakthrough The Sunfood Triangle. The crucial 5th Element to success is that to achieve this programme, you must keep these 3 dimensions in perfect balance, to achieve inner harmony. 1. Green leafy vegetables2. Sweet fruits/foods3. Fatty FoodsIf one of these food classes is missing in the diet for a significant period of time (few weeks – several months), imbalances will occur. We need to eat all 3 in balance every day. When I have kept with this pattern, I have attained a good dietary balance, and made noticeable advancements into the realms of extraordinary health and clarity.Anyone who makes 80% of their diet from this triangle will begin to feel a startling new level of magic and transformation at play in their life. At the very centre of the Triangle are the non-sweet fruits (cucumbers, okra, tomatoes, noni and bell peppers) These fruits are perfect for snacks. The ideal is to include a balance of foods from each section of the sunfood triangle with each meal, although you can have two in one meal and the third later.ChlorophyllWhen you eat greens you will become calm, grounded, centred and earthed. Greens bring you strength; the leaves are transformed into the structure of the body. You just have to look at horses; they only eat grass yet are majestic in strength, muscle structure and sheer power of speed and reflex response!Where does the cow get its calcium from for its milk? From green grass of course!Green leaves cleanse the liver, refresh the lungs, soothe and calm the nerves, and release tension and pains from within the back and surrounding areas. Green leaves relieve pain. For all yogis: drink more green juices to improve your flexibility.SugarsEat natural sugars for brain fuel. Clear thought and speech is dependant on blood sugar. Our brains run primarily on oxygen and glucose. Glucose is the fuel of our being. The more mentally and physically active we are, the more fuel (sugar) you can burn off. Less activity naturally requires fewer sugars. Wonderful sugars include Organic sweet fruits, wild honey (not orchard grown), agave cactus nectar, yacon root syrup etc.Refined and processed sugars need to be removed from the diet, immediately.Avid lovers of natural sugars, tend to be zesty and drawn to lavish themselves in the Sun.FatsEat raw plant fats for beauty, lusciousness, radiant and luminescent gorgeousness. They make the skin and hair shine, as well as lubricate the mucus linings and joints of the body. Raw fats are the emollients of the body.Excellent fats include avocados, durians, olives, young coconuts, nuts, seeds, olive oils and seed oils.(eg hemp and flax) These fats can help to protect you from pollution and the harshness of modern- day urban living. They insulate our nerves and give us robustness within our nervous system. Cooked fats are thick, heavy and have a deranged structure. They clog our blood, arteries and lymphatic systems. This naturally results in excessive weight gain and heart disease. Now hear this!Raw plant fats DO NOT cause the body to gain excessive weight, unless one totally overeats unsoaked nuts. In fact eating raw plant fats, results in people naturally shedding excess fat from their bodies. Raw plant fat contains lipase enzymes, which actually burn body fat. Each raw fatty acid replaces each cooked trans-fatty acid. Isn’t that fantastic?Other Variations of The Sunfood TriangleTo lose weight change the triangle to: 50% Chlorophyll, 50% Sugars and 0% Fats. The best snack foods whilst losing weight are raw cacao beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, bell peppers and celery, as they all contain few, if any calories. Cacao beans are an excellent natural appetite suppressant. Mmmm raw chocolate can help you loose weight!!! To gain weight change the triangle to: 42% Chlorophyll, 16% Sugars and 42% Fats. The secret to gaining weight and strength is eating greens and fats together, with fewer sugars. Also adding Superfoods such as, raw hemp protein, maca and blue green algae, will also deeply assist.Again, just think of a gorilla, the strongest and heaviest animal in the world who thrives on greens and shoots! To Feed Children change the triangle to: 40% Chlorophyll, 20% Sugars and 40% Fats.Calcium and magnesium are extremely important for a child’s diet and they can gain this from green leaves or green juices, You can sweeten greens juice by adding either apples or pears. Pregnant mothers benefit from balancing their diet with more greens and fats with lots of variety to feed the growing baby. An ample supply of B12 is also vital for children and breast-feeding mothers. Views vary, but there is a strong notion that B12 supplements are beneficial for vegans. To Feed the Elderly change the triangle to 40% Chlorophyll, 20% Sugars and 40% fats.Elderly people require additional Amino acids, as the liver’s pool of these acids diminishes with age. Amino acids are found in wonderful seeds such as, Hemp, Flax and Pumpkin, and Superfoods such as bee pollen, propolis and spirulina. The two raw foods known to have extreme longevity properties are royal jelly, wolf or goji Berries. These should be eaten daily as part of maintaining your youth!Eating to overcome Candida: Change the triangle to: 50% Chlorophyll, 0% Sugars and 50% Fats.Candida is such a common condition that results in bloating, thrush, athlete’s foot, clouded thinking, depression and exhaustion. Sugar, dairy and wheat feed this fungal bacteria. Therefore to overcome this condition, we must starve it of its food source. Candida loves damp, dark places, so more skin exposure to direct sunlight is a must as yeasts and fungi are destroyed by direct sunlight. Do not take fruit juice if you have Candida, and take ample amounts of probiotics to stabilise the balance of bacteria within your digestive system. You can increase your intake of sugary fruits once the body is cleansed and the Candida symptoms have disappeared.Eating for Mental Clarity change the triangle to: 100% SugarsTo achieve maximum clarity of mind, fast or eat only one type of juicy fruit for several days. In the final article we shall reveal the vital, immortal secrets of the Gods…Quotes:‘The Ancient Egyptians understood the power of the triangle through the strength and magic of the pyramids; integrate this pyramid energy into your lives – NOW!’ Kanyu Phil Th”Force – Live Vibe Tribe, UKFEAR = False Evidence that Appears Real – Anthony Robbins‘Would you like your food with or without nutrients?

Let me preface this article series by saying I am not a dietitian, health care professional, or personal trainer. I am simply a writer and businessman who decided I had to do something about my weight. I was not obese, but certainly was overweight and heading for clogged arteries and probably a heart attack before I hit 50. What follows is what worked for me, and what I honestly believe will work for anyone willing to commit mentally. The key is commitment, and that is the hardest part.
There is no miracle diet, no big secret, and it didn’t cost me a dime. There are no pills, no monthly fees, no fancy diet books, and no gym membership involved. All you need to do is change your thinking, set a goal, make a plan for how you will accomplish that goal, and commit 100 percent.
You must accept that losing weight is not like winning the lottery. You don’t wake up the next day 30 pounds lighter. There is work involved, but not so much it will wear you down. If you treat weight loss like the lottery your chances of success are about the same. Slim to none, and slim just left town.
I am down 31 pounds, and three waist sizes (almost 4) in just over four months. Or, to put it another way I have lost the equivalent of four gallons of milk. Try carrying four gallons of milk around all day. It gets heavy fast. Those four months seemed like a long haul, but looking back it’s quite remarkable that I accomplished, and far exceeded, my original goal. As much as I like to think so, I’m not special. Anyone can do this, even you.
When I was a kid I was a skinny twig. When I was 17-18 years old I would eat two double cheeseburgers, six chicken nuggets, large fries, and a regular Coke for lunch. Every day. I never gained weight.
When I hit 23 years old my metabolism slowed down. I also met the girl of my dreams who is an amazing cook. Fast forward ten years and I had gained 71 pounds! Actually, it only took about four years to put on that 71 pounds. I didn’t do anything about it for another six years.
In February of this year I got that nasty flu that was going around all over the country. I couldn’t shake it, so I went to see a doctor. They weigh you on the way in on an accurate medical scale. I couldn’t believe I weighed 206 pounds. For a man of 5′10″ that’s not bad if you’re solid muscle and play running back for the Cleveland Browns. But, for a guy who is flabby and out of shape that’s overweight.
I realized that the reason I got winded going up the stairs quickly, and the reason for sore knees was not age. It was weight. Something finally clicked in my mind, and I decided right then that I would lose weight. I just didn’t know how.
My wife and I had just booked a trip to Las Vegas for our anniversary in May. My goal was to lose 15 pounds before we left. I had three months to do it. Honestly, I didn’t think I could lose the weight. By the time we left I was down 22 pounds! In the last month since we returned I have dropped another 9 pounds. I had to buy all new pants because I dropped 3 waist sizes.
I have a new goal to take off 10 more to get to 165 pounds. Now that I know how, I’ll meet that goal.
So, the big question is how did I do it, right? Co-workers have asked me if I went on Weight Watchers or Nutri-System. They asked if I was on a low carb diet, a vegan diet, etc. The answer is I simply changed my thinking, and decided to do what it took to lose the weight. I had a goal, and I committed to meeting that goal.
I call it maverick thinking, but it’s not all that radical. Common sense tells you that eating junk is bad, eating foods that are better for you will be, well, better for you. As the saying goes, you are what you eat. I preach maverick thinking in business all the time. Changing the paradigm, etc. It dawned on me that I needed to apply my maverick ideas to my own health.
The first step was to decide on a start date for eating better. You can’t just decide you will eat better without a plan and a solid goal. About a week in advance I decided I would start eating better on February 18th, and I would lose 15 pounds by May 19th. I then wrote the goal down, and marked the calendar. I figured with about 12 weeks if I lost just about a pound or two every week I’d meet my goal. I chose Thursday morning as my weigh-in day each week. My rule was I would only step on the scale on Thursday morning. I would chart my progress weekly, and hopefully stay on track.
During the next week I looked at the plate or wrapper I ate from when I was done eating. The grease left on the plate is really gross. When you really look at it that slime it is pretty nasty. Would you lick that plate? Of course not, it’s disgusting. Then, I considered what I just ate was FULL of that crap. Game over. I couldn’t put that into my body any longer.
From that point on I had embedded in my mind that many of the foods I ate were simply garbage, and the equivalent to eating from a dirty trash can. That’s what it took. I had to change the way I thought about food. It was no longer about how yummy doughnuts are, or how much I liked to taste a greasy cheeseburger. I actually became angry toward those kinds of foods. I began to think how absolutely foolish it is to eat such junk. I didn’t preach to others or say it out loud, but when a co-worker grabbed a doughnut or four at the office I would think to myself, “what a weakling.” That was my motivation to not be tempted to cheat or fall off the wagon. Call it self-righteous if you want, but I’m down 31 pounds, my friend.Whatever it takes.
So, set your goal and motivation. If you want to lose 20 pounds in a week you’re going to be disappointed because it won’t happen. That’s an unrealistic goal. Make it a reasonable time period, even if you think it’s too long. It’s better to shoot for the sky and reach the stars than the other way around. Grab a calendar and write down your goal weight date. Then, chart out how often you’ll weigh in, and set reasonable benchmarks. Keep in mind you will likely lose weight slow at first, then you’ll drop faster, then progress might slow down again before picking up again. Just like your goal, don’t set benchmarks you have no chance of reaching. You’ll only get discouraged, and want to quit. Never quit, never ever quit.

prerogative the current scenario, food enterprises fame Europe fervor to comply with regulations that settle not allow them to make murky health claims equal as “improves memory,” which is in turn intense them to be highly- specific about the health benefits of their products. The USA, however, is open to consistent claims, and table companies are allowed to make outright types of these.
In the USA, “the Nutritional Labeling again Education Act of 1994 makes it compulsory for mess manufacturers to provide nutritional information regarding the fat, carbohydrate, mineral and protein paradise in their products,” elaborates Frost & Sullivan research analyst Kasturi Nadkarny. “In addition to creating motor response peep the nutritional content of drink products among consumers, this approach makes them aware of the importance of specific nutritional ingredients,” he adds.

It’s no secret that many people, raw foodists or not, struggle with releasing unwanted weight. Often times this inability to lose weight stems from seemingly uncontrollable cravings for unhealthy cooked foods. These cravings often lead to binge eating, which (of course) leads to weight gain.

There is a good chance that you struggle with this problem as well. Sure, you might stick to a raw food diet for maybe a week or so, but those killer cravings always seem to rear their ugly heads again.

Once they’re back, it’s all you think about and before you know it, you’re parked at the nearest fast-food joint chowing down on the fattiest, most unhealthy food you can get your hands on. You spend the rest of the day feeling guilty and dreading your next visit with Mr. Scale. And the cycle continues…

What to do? Is there anyway to end this madness? Don’t you wish that there was one easy and effective way to finally lose weight? Well, to day is your lucky day! Here is the #1 rule for healthy raw food weight loss:

Eat More Food!

Sounds crazy, right? To tackle the weight loss issue, we have to get to the root of the problem: cravings. Many of these cravings can be avoided by simply eating more! We are so often told to eat less and less and less for weight loss. This is not the answer. Eating less food than your body needs means receiving less volume and fewer nutrients than you require.

If you allow yourself to eat as much food as you want, I promise you will see a significant reduction in cooked food cravings. Of course, you can’t just eat *any* foods. You want a raw diet comprised of mostly raw sweet fruits, 1-2 pounds of non-sweet fruits and tender greens, and limited amounts of fatty foods (i.e. half an avocado or 1-2 ounces of nuts per day).

You also want to be sure and eradicate (or at least limit) food such as salt, onion, garlic, and pepper from your diet. These foods are irritating to the body and they can and will lead to water retention.

How This Rule Helped Me

As wary as I am to admit it, I used to binge eat. Not only was this physically and mentally damaging, it prevented me from staying at my ideal weight for very long. Luckily, this never became a daily practice for me, but it was a nasty frequent habit nonetheless and one that became harder and harder to stop.

It was not until I learned the value of eating as much raw foods as I wanted and actually implemented this in my life that I no longer felt the urge to binge on unhealthy foods.

There were many days in which I actually ate 3000 calories worth of raw foods…well over my caloric needs for the day. And yet, I still lost weight! That’s the beauty of a low fat, high fruit raw food diet. You really can eat pounds of food a day and experience vibrant health.

What other diet can promise that?

Moral of the Story

Eat more raw foods! I don’t care if you just had a huge meal of 20 bananas! If you feel cravings coming on, go grab an apple or some grapes or pineapple, etc. And don’t cause yourself unnecessary stress by worrying over how much you are eating. Your appetite will gradually lessen as your taste buds and tummy become accustomed to simpler foods. You won’t have to eat quite as much to feel satisfied.

Today, I honestly can’t even imagine eating those unhealthy foods that I used to binge on. My belly is far too full on delicious sweet fruits!

With all of the weight loss plans available these days, it is truly amazing that any of us are overweight. But the truth is that most Americans are carrying around too much weight, and more and more of us are becoming clinically obese. Being overweight is not about being chubby or portly or stocky, it is about putting your body and your life at risk. If you are overweight, you owe it to yourself and your family to find a healthy weight loss plan that you can stick with and that works.

When choosing a plan, there are several factors to consider. First of all, can you stick to it? If you choose a diet that requires you to eat a lot of fruit, but you can’t afford to buy fresh fruit every day, then it won’t work for you. If you choose a diet that is low in carbs, but you absolutely crave pasta, then that won’t work either. You have to find a healthy weight loss plan that works with who you are.

If you have particular healthy problems or issues, then find a plan that is designed for it. There are diet plans for diabetics, ones that are gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free. There are plans for vegetarians, vegans, and people who are kosher. Choose a plan for your lifestyle and needs and you will be far more successful.

A good healthy weight loss plan is also one that you can afford. A lot of plans require you to buy pre-packaged foods at exorbitant prices. Unless you are very wealthy and don’t mind eating cardboard-tasting food, then stay away from these kinds of diets. Also try and avoid diets that require you to starve yourself or eat vast amounts of a particular type of food. These are not healthy and can actually do long-term damage to your organs.

If you want to skip the planning and go straight to the weight loss, you should check out Strip that Fat; it’s an advanced weight loss program designed to achieve fast and healthy weight loss.
free information about Pay-Per-View
